Hannah Nuttall is a 5K runner and a key member of Team New Balance Manchester, with a passion for athletics that has been part of her life from a young age. With both parents being Olympians in the 5K, Hannah’s goal is to follow in their footsteps and compete at the highest level, including her ambition to make the Tokyo World Champs next year. She’s a dedicated athlete who thrives on challenging training sessions and has a deep appreciation for the recovery process.

For Hannah, recovery is just as important as training. Intense workouts can lead to fatigue, and ice baths have played a pivotal role in helping her recover faster. Using the Chill Tubs has become a game-changer in her routine, offering the perfect temperature and convenience for an effective post-training recovery.

Chill Tubs’ high-performance ice baths help athletes like Hannah reduce fatigue, alleviate anxiety, and enhance relaxation, ensuring they stay at their best, both physically and mentally. Whether preparing for a race or recovering between events, the Chill Tubs supports her recovery, boosting her performance on race day.

What made you want to become an athlete?

“As a youngster, both my parents were very much into athletics. My mum and dad went to the Olympics as 5K runners, so it’s been my goal from a really young age. My main big goal is to make the Tokyo World Champs next year. I just missed out on Paris this year by less than a second in the 5K, so that was really disappointing. But going forward, I really hope to make the team next year.

I really love the training, and I love pushing myself. A really hard workout, like a 5K-specific workout, is what I love training-wise. I also love the recovery side of it!”

How has using Chill Tubs enhanced your recovery process?

“Using Chill Tubs is so much better because we just have it here, ready. We don’t have to go and make it with ice. We know the temperature, and we can set it to whatever we want, so it’s perfect to just jump into after training. It’s been a game-changer and will come in handy over winter when we’re doing hard training and clocking miles.”

Has cold water therapy improved your performance?

“I have seen improvements when using it between races. I was getting fatigued after races, and this has really helped me recover between them. So, I would say my performance has improved because of the recovery I’ve had from the ice bath. It reduces my anxiety, and I feel the relaxation of it is the biggest benefit. The reset in my body is really nice too.”

Do you have any advice for young runners?

“Number one, most important, is to just enjoy it. And number two, don’t do too much too young—just build up really slowly over time. There are so many people who burn out as youngsters, and it’s really sad to see.”
